About the School

Welcome to Wendat Village Public School. Wendat Village Public School opened in 2012 in the growing community of Whitchurch-Stouffville. Our school has a particularly meaningful connection to the history of this land. Wendat Village is located near the Mantle Site, the site of a large ancestral Wendat community dating to the early 16th century. Our school was named in recognition of the rich history of the area and the Wendat people who lived here centuries before our school community was established. This history gives us both an opportunity and a responsibility to learn about the peoples, histories and perspectives connected to the land on which we learn. Today, we continue to build on our school's story by creating a culture in which student achievement, well-being, belonging, inclusion and student voice are central to our work.
